REGISTERING AS A RESIDENT (EU CITIZENS)

If you are an EU citizen and are planning to stay for more than 3 months, you need to register and get a residence permit at the Migration Department.

You will need to bring:

  • Your passport
  • Your work contract with a Lithuania-based company or see here for other options
  • 3 copies of your residence permit application forms (get them here)
  • Proof of your place of residence

 

REGISTERING FOR THE EU BLUE CARD (NON-EU CITIZENS) 

If you are not an EU citizen, you need to register with the Migration Department in order to receive a residence permit in Lithuania.

To apply for an EU Blue Card you will need to bring:

  • Your passport
  • A passport-sized photo
  • Your Schengen visa or other proof of permission to be in Lithuania
  • Police clearance from your country of origin
  • University degree certificate
  • Work contract with a Lithuanian company
  • 3 copies of your migration application forms
  • Proof of your place of residence

 

Remember these tips!

Bring at least 3 copies of everything. If you are renting an apartment, you will need to have your landlord write a letter of confirmation and have it notarised. Alternatively, you can bring her or him to the Migration Department to sign your residence permit.

Your residence permit application takes up to 10 days to process. Your residence permit will be valid for 3 years when approved.
